Whop

Whop is a commerce platform for selling memberships, subscriptions, courses and software, and it takes the payment itself. Connect it and funnel checkouts run on Whop’s own checkout, with sales tax and VAT collected — and remitted, if you pick that mode — by Whop rather than by you.

Why connect Whop

The argument, not the feature list.

Whop is the one selling

This is the opposite trade from Stripe. Whop takes the payment, issues the receipt, and can be the party that registers and remits tax; you get a payout rather than a settlement into an account of yours. Less compliance to own, in exchange for a customer record that lives on Whop’s side too.

Tax at the level you want it

Whop offers three modes: it collects and remits for you, it collects and you remit, or you handle tax entirely yourself. That is a setting in Whop, not something the funnel decides, so you can start with the hands-off mode and tighten it later.

The checkout stays in your page

Whop’s checkout is an embed you place in the funnel — cards and wallets inside Whop’s own frame — so the buyer finishes on the page they were reading rather than on a checkout somewhere else.

Same funnel, same catalog

Whop is a store like any other: prices bind to your catalog, purchases fan out to your integrations, and reporting treats a Whop subscription exactly like a Stripe one.

How it works

What moves, and in which direction.

  1. 01Connect your Whop account from store settings.
  2. 02Funnel prices bind to Whop prices, so the checkout charges what your catalog declares.
  3. 03Whop webhooks flow back for renewals, refunds and disputes.
  4. 04Purchases fan out to your other connected integrations as events.

What gets sent

Whop is where the charge happens rather than a destination we forward events to. Completed purchases fan out to your other connected integrations.

What you need

Have these on hand and setup takes a couple of minutes in the dashboard.

  • 01A Whop account with API access, connected from store settings
  • 02Your tax mode chosen in Whop — it decides who remits, and Appfunnel does not override it

Worth knowing

Things that will otherwise surprise you later.

  • Whop collects the card in its own frame, so there is no raw card field of yours on a Whop funnel — the same constraint every merchant of record carries.
  • Whop is also a marketplace with its own rules about what may be sold there. Check its seller terms before you build a funnel around it.
